Online periodical databases are great tools for finding articles published in recent years (1980+). For older articles, say published in 1940s, your options are
- Find a specialized database with historical coverage, such as Historic New York Times. (LRCCD libraries don't have it.)
- Use your library's collection of microfiche or microfilm. Many college libraries own a collection of microfiche/film of older periodicals. For example, you can find Time on microfilm in the SCC library back to 1924. Because a citation (date, author, title, volumn/issue numbers, etc.) is needed to use microfiche/film, you will start with an online or print periodical index to get the citation information.
